Saker 10 in Contour Gauge with Lock

Press it against any odd shape and it copies the profile — for cuts around pipes, door frames and molding.

Best for Cutting flooring and tile around door framespipesmolding profilesodd shapes

Fitting a floor tile or a piece of laminate around a door frame is where many DIY projects get ugly: lots of measuring, a cut that’s almost right, and a gap that shows. A contour gauge skips the measuring. Press its row of pins against the shape, lock it, and trace the copied profile straight onto the piece you’re cutting.

It works the same way for pipes, molding profiles and any other shape that’s hard to measure with a tape.

Pro tip Trace the profile onto a strip of cardboard first and test the fit. A cardboard template is free; a tile cut wrong isn’t.

Why we like it

  • ✓Copies irregular profiles in one press
  • ✓Lock holds the shape while you trace it
  • ✓Tension is adjustable with the included small wrench
  • ✓ABS plastic, light and rustproof

Keep in mind

  • !10 in wide — longer profiles need several overlapping copies
  • !Tight curves and very fine details still need a little hand fitting
